Ferd “Dick” William Humphrey ~ Zeigler December 23, 2021

Ferd “Dick” William Humphrey, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 23, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale with his loving family by his side.

Dick was born on April 14, 1938 in Carbondale to the late Ferdinand and Jeanetta (Davie) Humphrey.

He married Sara (Ebling) Humphrey on October 19, 1987 they shared over 25 years of marriage till her passing on January 7, 2013.

Dick is survived by his sister; Scherrie Eastwood of Marion, Illinois; grandson; Kyle (Mariah) Humphrey of Houma, Louisiana nieces; Donya (Mike Martinek) Eastwood-Shackleton of Cobden; Kim (Mark)McDaniel of Carbondale; Jennifer (Mike) Harris of Carterville; Clint (Erica) Eastwood of Carbondale; David (Elizabeth) Tegethoff; Douglas (Debbie) Tegethoff; Anita (Dennis) Shirley all of DeSoto, Illinois; brother-in-law Bobby Joe Tegethoff of DeSoto, Illinois and many more great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, and family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ferdinand and Jeanetta Humphrey; wife Jerry Lynn Humphrey and their children a daughter Dale Lynne Humphrey and a son Sean Humphrey; wife Sara Humphrey; sister Betty Jo Tegethoff and infant sister Pamela.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 following with Reverend Sidney Logwood officiating at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.

Dick will be greatly missed by his family. He had a smile that was contagious and would light up a room when he walked in. He was always full of knowledge from all the thousands of books he loved to read. But one of his greatest enjoyments in life was to ride his Harley all over Southern Illinois visiting family and friends.

John 16:22 – So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no will take joy from you.

    Uncle Dick was one of the most funniest men I know. He always made me smile. I’m so glad that I got to spend the last years with him close to our family. It was an honor to know him. God Speed
